Operations: Uploading Databases

In Asset Module user's can upload entire databases that contain multiple projects. There are two methods to upload a database into Asset Module. Packaged DASH databases and GDBs.

Uploading Packaged DASH Databases
Utilizing DASH's Package Project feature a user can prepare a zipped .mdb with all linked documents, then import that database into Asset Module. All documents will be retained and their links will be displayed on their respective features on the Asset map.

  1. Click on the System Configuration button.
  2. Click Import
  3. Select the ACCESS DATABASE.
  4. Click OK to confirm, when prompted.
  5. Next click on Select a file for upload.
  6. Attach packaged DASH .mdb file.
  7. Once attached, click Upload File.
    A loading bar will appear followed by a success notification.
  8. Click OK to confirm, when prompted.
    The Seed File text box will populate with your file's project name.
  9. Choose a project from the Project drop-down menu.
  10. Set your projection, when prompted. 
  11. Click Save Projection and Continue Import.
  12. Select alignments from the CHOOSE AN ALIGNMENT FROM ACCESS box.
  13. Check off all tables you wish to import. 
  14. Click Execute.
    Once Execute has has been selected user's will be notified that the import will begin and will receive an email upon completion. This is background process that will run as you continue to browse the site.
  15. Click OK to finish.
    All imported data will be viewable in the Reports page.

Uploading Geodatabases
Users are also able to import standard zipped .gdb files.

  1. Click the UPLOADS button to expand options.
  2. Click Geodatabase.
  3. Select the GeoDatabase Alignments tab.
  4. Select Add To Existing Layers to append data into your current layers or select Replace Layers to perform a data overwrite.
    These radio buttons are located to the right.
  5. Attach your file by drag and dropping or click Select a file for upload to browse file options .
  6. Click Upload Files.
  7. Choose your desired layers for import from the Geodatabase Layers box.
  8. Click Load Layers Into Database.
    The Geodatabase Layers box will begin to cycle the user through multiple layer types for import.
  9. Choose a system layer. (EX: alignments)
  10. Click Create System.
  11. Choose feature layers to map.
  12. Click Save System Mappings.
  13. Map any columns to matching fields.
  14. Click Save Matchings.
    Once saved, user's will be notified that the upload was completed.
  15. Click OK to finish.
    All imported data will be viewable in the Reports page.
