Error 1001, "Could not find special directory 'Desktop'"

 

"Could not find special directory" Error:

Issue: When running Lightning Pro installer, an "Error 1001" is pulled.

Additional Information:

  • When installing Blue Sky software, a specific path is requested and provided by the installer during the installation. OneDrive redirects that installation to the OneDrive web location. This redirect inhibits the program's ability to run; the installer is also storing the program path location, and is expecting to see that on the local machine. 

 

Resolution:

In order to fix the issue, the automatic redirect by OneDrive will need to be bypassed.

  1. If you have previously installed the program and it went to OneDrive, you must fully uninstall the program before installing locally.
  2. The IT department needs to install the software using their login credentials. The use of IT's admin credentials provides the option to bypass the OneDrive redirect.
  3. Confirm that all locations have the proper security permissions for the user group or username (full control, not including special permissions).
  4. Confirm that all the program's dlls are present on the local machine. (C:Drive/ Program Files/Blue Sky Evolution, LLC/Lightning Pro)
  5. Proceed with standard installation.
