Getting Started

Upon the first time executing this application, a few notices will appear informing the user of a missing database connection string and document storage location. Once both has been selected, DASH will save the data allowing a connection the next time it is opened with the document storage location.

Selecting a Database
Nothing can be done until a database connection is made. The user is allowed three choices in regard to which type of dataset to connect to. The three types are:

· Access Database

· SQL Server Database

· Cloud Based Database

Access Database
If Access Database is selected, the user must browse to the Access database desired. Once the database has been selected, all Alignments within the selected database will be displayed in a list for the user to select from.

SQL Server Database
If SQL Server Database is selected, the Dashboard switches to allow the user to fill in security information (i.e. Server Name, Database and Schema). Since SQL Server can maintain multiple projects, the user is required to select a project from the SQL Server Database. Once the Project has been selected, a list of Alignments associated with the selected Project is displayed in a list for the user to select from.

SQL Server Databases must be configured to use a trusted (Windows Authenticated) connection. The user is not given a location to enter a Username or Password.

Servers
If the server name is not known, selecting the Servers button will open a form to allow the user to select a server found on the connected network and the database desired from the selected server.

Schema
Once the Server and Database names have been set, the user is required to supply the Schema that will be used to access the selected database.

Connect
Once all the previous data has been filled out, the user must connect to the database by selecting the Connect button.

Cloud
If a Cloud Based Database is selected, the Dashboard switches to allow the user to fill in security information (i.e. Username and Password and Server location [Domestic or International]).

After selecting the correct Server location and supplying the Username and Password, a list of databases associated with the username supplied, will be displayed. Once the database has been selected, the user is required to supply the schema that will be used to access the selected database.

Cloud Based Databases can maintain multiple projects. The user is required to select a project from the Cloud Based Database. Once the Project has been selected, a list of Alignments associated with the selected Project is displayed in a list for the user to select from.

Once one of more Alignments have been selected, the tabs accessing the available dashboard items are enabled and the user is now allowed to edit the data associated with the selected Alignment or Project.
