Guide on how to update a SEED file to a new feature code library.
Recommended Solution:
- Use the SEED you want to change as a SEED for a new (fake) project
- Open the Project (fake) database
- Remove all records from the Code table
- This will remove the existing Codes, Attributes, and Menuitems through cascade delete, which is a system setting, not something you need to manipulate
- Close the database and return to the interface
- Import the new FXL through Project Utilities=> Survey Codes
- Check and adjust your Codes for Description field, Scan to, and layer
- For each code with sub-Codes (attributes), go to the Sub-Code table and define the Display Order and Suffix so that the system will BUILD the correct description string (shown in the Point table Description column after the GPS shots are Scanned against the alignment)
- Save this project (fake) as a new seed (Skyline Main, Project button, bottom of list), maintaining the Project list and Defaults (default selection is either based on user name or AlignDB)
- It is recommended that the name of the new seed is <Company> and todays date.
- Once the fake project is saved as the new seed, any reference to the Project (fake) can be removed.
