General Overview:
Create Project: Creating a project for generating Land Plats is the same process used when creating a project in Skyline. Please refer to the Skyline documentation for further information.
Create a Centerline: Creating a centerline in an existing project for generating Land Plats is the same process used when creating a centerline for a project in Skyline. Please refer to the Skyline documentation for further information.
Setting Up a Border: Setting up a border used when generating Land Plats, is the same process used when setting up a border for a project in Skyline.
There are a few things to be aware of when setting up a Border.
The draw area:
The area set up in the Draw area Tab, is what is used for creating the sheets. Be sure to leave space at the edges of the border to allow for inserting a North Arrow (if desired) and Key Map (if desired). Area around the edges of the border may also be needed for Parcel labeling.
Please refer to the Skyline documentation for further information.
Creating a Plat Group: Creating a Plat Group is very similar to creating a Sheet Group in Skyline with a few modifications. To Create a Group, Select “New Plat Group” from the Drop down menu .
Select “New Plat Group” from the list of options will display a form for the creation of a Plat Group.
Options overview:
Name and Description: These values are generated automatically by Skyline and can be modified by the user.
Border: The border MUST be selected to create a sheet group.
- The border settings should be done before a Plat Group is made. The scale of the Plat is determined by the drawing area settings created while establishing the border information.
Units: Units are determined by the Project’s Unit setting. This setting should match the Project Setting.
Plat Scale: Plat scale can be set to a standard scale for all Plats. (not recommended)
- Plat scale can also be set to Auto Scale. Since parcel size varies widely, a defined scale for all Plats most likely will truncate parts of some parcels as well as make some too small to display accurately.
- By using Auto Scale, Skyline determines the best scale for each parcel based on the selected border’s drawing area settings.
File Name Prefix: When saving each Plat as its own file, each sheet will have a string prefix for the name of each file.
Drawing Number Prefix: Each layout generated for while creating Plats will have a string prefix for the name of the layout.
Start Drawing No: All generated Plats require a Drawing Number. This setting is the beginning number used when generating sheets for the Plat Group.
Drawing No Incr: This setting is used to increment drawing numbers when creating sheets for a Plat Group. (This value is not editable)
Centerline Info: This area of the Plat Group form is for information only. It shows the user information regarding the centerline.
Plat Settings: If working with a Plat Group, sheet options for creating Plat Sheets are in the Sheets tab for Skyline. Also under the Sheets tab, a Plat tab is now visible to make Plat setting changes.
