ProgenDB - Defining A Surface

The Surface is what determines how each profile will display on each Sheet.

Defining a Surface
The User has the ability to define multiple surfaces for generating a profile on each sheet. This allows the User to create an Existing Grade elevation, as well as a Top of Pipe elevation. To begin surface definition, click the ProgenDB tab in Alignment Utilities.

After clicking the ProgenDB button the ProGenDB – Surface List dialog appears.

The User can now Add, Delete, Rename, or Edit a Surface. By clicking the Add button, the application will display the new surface dialog, as seen below.
By specifying a Name, Type of Surface and Layer to create the surface on, the User can create a surface by sampling the points from the survey file and specifying a bump distance, normally a negative value indicating the distance below the surveyed natural ground shots.
Within this dialog users can add individual features to the profile at defined stations and elevations.
To create features in the profile surface click the Create Feature button from the ProGenDB Dialog

The user may create surface features to display in the profile band.
You will select the surface to which the features will be associated to.

Select the code for the features, the description from the point table will be used as the feature description.

You may choose to bump the elevation of allow the slope calculation to place the event at the calculated elevation. If an elevation is already provided for the event no calculation will be performed.

You may also select the symbol to be used for the feature.
